Other Community Facts & Statistics

In 1956, Ross W. Cortese and his Rossmoor Corporation began subdivision and development of a new community of tract of homes named Rossmoor. The land had been acquired five years earlier by Cortese from the Fred Bixby Ranch Company. Although the community was originally promoted as a subdivision of Los Alamitos, it was later advertised as a smart new suburb of Long Beach (even though Long Beach was across the county line in Los Angeles County).
